Amici - Italian for ‘friends’.
Valentina of SnailYarn and I started our first collaboration last year in Hamburg. This year we will meet again in Berlin. Berlin Knits is all about meeting friends, chatting, laughing and knitting, so we decided to put our heads together for a second collaboration.

With my friends in mind I designed this cowl and hat in a squishy, soft woolen yarn. New and old friends tested this set to complete the circle. Some of them will be in Berlin too and some of them just in mind.

The stitch pattern is easy to memorize and looks more complicated than is. The pattern is fully written with stitch counts and is also charted.

Yarn

1 skein SnailYarn BFL/Masham DK (BFL/Masham British wool, 100 gr-262yds/240m). 
Sample yardage 131yds/120m in color Natural.
Or any DK weight yarn: approx. 131-175yds (120-160m). 

For an additional pompom you need approx. 47yds/43m.

Materials

16” (minimum 40 cm) circular or 32” (80 cm) for magic loop and/or dpns.
US 6 (4.0 mm) 
US 7 (4.5 mm). 
Stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle.

Gauge - blocked 4" (10 cm) 

Cable pattern, 26 stitches x 34 rounds.

Finished dimensions 

Unstretched 17.3” (44 cm), fits approx. 20.5-22.5” (52-57 cm) circumference x 7.6“ (21 cm) height, from crown to CO.

Adjustments 

Different sizes and fits can be achieved by altering brim height, yarn weight and/or needle size(s).
